Guiding David back into employment

David Campbell, a new Abri customer, had been going through financial and health difficulties when he reached out to our Employment Services. He recounts the support he received from us.

“After moving into an Abri home in February, I discovered Abri’s Employment Services. I’d been unemployed for a long time and suffering from financial difficulties. I believe the main cause of my long-term unemployment were my health issues, mild arthritis and asthma. I felt they were holding me back along with my lack of qualifications and self-confidence.  

“Since day one, Jenn, an Abri Employment Coach, was nothing but kind, friendly and extremely helpful. She informed me of free training courses and helped me search for jobs. Whilst I also searched on my own, I always informed her of the jobs I’d applied for and was always willing to listen to her advice. Having someone willing to listen to me was a big boost to my confidence because, until then, I’d felt like I was walking down a one way street. 

“The job I now have was secured whilst on a four-day training course that was arranged by my local job centre. During the course we were made aware that we’d have an online assessment for a chance at employment with Teleperformance. The following evening, after completing the assessment, I got a job offer which I immediately accepted. I informed my job centre and also Jenn who was genuinely happy. This just goes to show how genuine and how excellent she is. 

“This experience has taught me to never give up, that you can find work no matter how old you are, and that even in the darkest moments, there’s always someone willing to help. Abri’s Employment Services team are excellent in all that they do, and really helpful at guiding their customers in their search for employment.”
