Community mural celebration

We’re delighted to introduce Wild and Wonderful, a vibrant new mural located outside Campion House by Jock’s Lane in Bracknell, created by local artist Janine Tonkin. This was done following feedback from the local community, who expressed a desire to improve the aesthetics of some of their estates.

With this in mind, and support from our Community Investment team, the mural’s design was shaped in collaboration with customers, reflecting their ideas and celebrating the rich natural beauty of the Bracknell area. Over three weeks in August, Janine worked to bring the mural to life, aiming to brighten up the space and foster community pride.

To mark the mural’s completion, we held a community event on Saturday 13 September, where more than 90 people joined us for an afternoon of creativity and celebration. Guests were invited to add their own flower to the mural alongside Janine, leaving a lasting mark on the piece while enjoying free food, face painting, arts and crafts, and art goodie bags for children.

The response was overwhelmingly positive, with customers sharing feedback such as: 

• “It is beautiful, eye-catching and lovely to see.” 
• “It has brightened the space and made it more welcoming.”
• “It spreads a little joy in a sometimes challenging world.” 

We’re delighted with how the mural has turned out and the impact it's had already in brightening up the space. We're very grateful for Janine’s creativity, dedication and hard work in bringing this community artwork to life, and we hope to collaborate again on future murals at other sites - watch this space!
