CCTV observations update
Earlier this year, we wrote to many of our customers to let you know that we’re intending to enter into a Qualifying Long-Term Agreement (QLTA) for security service and maintenance requirements across many of our neighbourhoods. This includes CCTV, access control and intruder alarms.
QLTAs are put in place to ensure we have the right contracts in place to meet our needs, at the same time as ensuring we get the best value for money.
As part of this, we consulted with everyone who pays variable service charges that lives in a building with a communal space, before approaching the market to find a new supplier, with the right experience and accreditations, including capacity to take on the regular service and maintenance of the security systems currently in place within our neighbourhoods. This means that whilst we may have included you in the consultation, we’re aware that you may not have CCTV, access control, or intruder alarms where you live right now.
What sort of feedback did we receive?
Some of the feedback we were sent was about the QTLA process, and many of you asked questions about whether CCTV is going to be installed where you live.
Under this consultation, we won’t be installing new CCTV, access control or alarms in areas in areas where this isn’t already in place. But if there have been incidents of anti-social behaviour where you live, please report it to us and we can review your case and the suitability for CCTV. To do this, there’s an easy form on our website – just head to www.abri.co.uk and visit the ‘customer support’ section, or search ‘report anti-social behaviour’. There are also lots of measures, other than CCTV, that we can look into to help keep your neighbourhood a safe place to live.
The themes of the feedback related to the QTLA process included:
- The cost of running CCTV and alarm systems and how this will impact service charges – until we have approached the market, and we have pricing back from suppliers, we don’t know how this will impact service charges, but we’ll let you know as soon as we do
- How energy efficiency will be considered in running the systems, as well as sustainable energy courses – this is something we’ll consider as part of the next stages in procurement process
- To be posted a copy of the description of works – if you’d like a copy, we will email you one on request
Our next steps will involve running a tender process to find the most suitable supplier able to meet our needs, considering both quality and price, and we will consider the suppliers put forward in any of your observations. When we do this, we’ll update you again.
