Affordable homes boost for Newbury

We’re excited to share that Abri is starting work on a new development of 79 affordable homes in Newbury, located at 20–28 Pound Street. This development is part of our commitment to building 10,000 homes by 2030, and it’s been shaped with the local community in mind to bring real, lasting benefits to the area. 

• Community investment: The £25 million project will transform a former commercial site into a vibrant residential area, helping to regenerate an area near the town centre and support local businesses. 
• All homes will be available for affordable and social rent, which are typically 20–50% lower than private market rents, helping to keep housing costs manageable for families and individuals. 

What’s being built? 

We’re building a mix of homes to suit different needs, there’ll be one- and two-bedroom apartments across three buildings, ideal for singles, couples, and small families. Plus, we’re adding three-bedroom houses that are perfect for families who need room to grow. 

We’re aiming to start work this September, with the new homes expected to be ready in early 2028.
